We have a tiny lull in new activity on the cosmic disaster front (knock on wood). We have a small hiatus in political nonsense as people get ready to run for office in 2012. We have an actual change of seasons. It has stopped snowing, probably, and, hopefully, the jet stream is moving north.
Obviously it is a very small window of relative peace. The nuclear reactors in Japan are still leaking. The Libyan rebels and Gadhafi are still doing their deadly dance back and forth across Libya. We still have all the same problem spots waiting on the back burner to heat up again. We know we will face new problems we can’t anticipate. We know that the jet stream will not even move north without negative consequences for someone. We don’t know what the Republicans plan to suggest for Medicaid and Medicare, but we are assured that they are up to something. What we just learned about banks and fake mortgage documents is enough to leave any homeowner shaking in his/her/their boots. We don’t know what will happen in Afghanistan, Libya, Japan, N. Korea, Gaza and Israel, and on and on and on.
While we experience this teensy little island of semi-sanity, I will wait for the world to turn green again and hope for sublime summer light to bathe us all in peace. And I will breathe.
